Walt Disney World - Guide to the Magic Kingdom (Overview)

1. WDW - The Magic Kingdom:

Everyone's vision of the Walt Disney Worldis of the Magic Kingdom and of the magical Cinderella castle located at the heart of this park. The park was opened almost forty years ago back in 1971 and at the time had just twenty-three attractions. The location of the park is somewhat obscure and its parking lot is more than a mile away from the park itself. Once guests arrive at the parking lot they are taken by trams to the Transportation and Ticket Center where they can take either a boat or the monorail to the Magic Kingdom itself. The park now boasts forty-eight attractions in seven different areas (or as Disney calls them "lands"). In addition, it is important to remember that everything is built to scale with Disney so this park covers over 107 acres of land and the areas where guests walk are actually on the first floor. Below the pathways and rides you use, there is an entire underground system of tunnels enabling Cast Members to move around easily and quickly without disturbing the experience of park guests. It also allows for the disposal of waste from the bins with no cleaners to clean the bins while the park is open.
Adventureland is themed to represent different remote areas of the world including jungles worldwide. Many classic rides such as Pirates of the Caribbean are here.
Frontierland is themed around the Wild West of America so get ready for exciting rides such as 'Splash Mountain' and 'Big Thunder Mountain'.
Liberty Square is based on an American Revolutionary town and houses some beautiful boats as well as the 'Hall of Presidents' and the fantastic 'Haunted Mansion'.
